At BRP, we are continually working to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing activities and our vehicles. This means reducing emissions and energy consumption in operations; making engines quieter and more efficient; finding additional ways to reuse and recycle materials, from parts to packaging, and steadily working toward our goal of achieving zero waste to landfill across all our operations.
In 2021, we took an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of our products with the announcement of a $300 million investment over the next five years to electrify each of our product lines by the end of 2026. As such, we have recently confirmed our first EV models with the upcoming launch of an all-electric lineup of Can-Am motorcycles.
With the launch of our new CSR25 Program, we are proud to be raising the bar for our industry with ambitious environmental targets:
ZERO WASTE PROJECT IN VALCOURT
In 2020, after three years of development, our Valcourt facility launched its Zero Waste Project. It included the introduction of “Electrobacs”, a collection system for recycling small electronics.
REDUCING WASTE IN AUSTRIA
In Austria, we began replacing the single-use wooden crates we use to ship vehicles with reusable, half-mesh baskets. Over the last three years, we have replaced approximately 4,200 wooden crates with the reusable baskets, representing a 165-ton reduction in wooden waste (2,7% overall waste reduction).
HYDROGEN SNOWMOBILE IN USE
In February 2020, BRP - Rotax launched its very first zero-emission snowmobile, featuring an electric powertrain that runs on an innovative renewable energy source : the Lynx HySnow.
