Pilots Cornel de Villiers, Alan Morel and Pierre-Yves Gaudillat will be aboard BRP Can-Am Renegade 800 H.O. EFI ATVs.

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 18, 2007 - BRP's Can-Am™ team is set to hit the starting block at the 30th edition of the Dakar Rally, which sets off from Lisbon on January 5, 2008. Pilots Cornel de Villiers, Alan Morel and Pierre-Yves Gaudillat will each take the wheel of a BRP Can-Am Renegade 800™ H.O. EFI ATV.

This year's edition of the Rally has a record 20 drivers competing in the quad category among the 580 total vehicles all vying to cross the finish line in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal on Sunday, January 20.

It's back to basics for the 2008 Rally, with more new, uncharted trails and a return trek through the Sahara. In all, pilots can expect a grueling 9273-kilometer course; of which 5736-kilometers will be timed segments (1500 kilometers more than in 2007). In addition, three new stages have been added and the 6th stage (Guelmim-Smara) will be back, allowing drivers to experience a seaside start. According to Dakar boss Etienne Lavigne, “The Rally will give drivers a good dose of sand, rugged terrain and tough challenges along the way.”

This year, BRP is being represented by a team of three seasoned drivers who have each set their sights on repeating the success of the last four editions of the Dakar Rally, when BRP pilots were on the podium. Moreover, their objective is to deliver the performance of 2004, 2005 and 2006 Rallies, when South African Cornel de Villiers, Frenchman Antoine Morel and Spanish Juan Manuel Gonzalez each took their respective vehicles to the top spot on the podium.
