BRP TO PRODUCE SPECIALIZED MOTORISED VEHICLES

Sherbrooke, Quebec, March 27, 2012 – BRP will assemble specialized motorised vehicles derived from its line of products in a new plant located in Sherbrooke. This facility will concentrate on assembling customized vehicles to meet the requirements of governments, municipalities, institutions and agencies, as well as individual consumers.

"This decision allows us to first assemble gasoline-powered vehicles with specific requirements from our existing products for which we already have orders from the Middle East," said José Boisjoli, president and CEO. ''We will also make the most of the technologies developed at the Centre de technologies avancées BRP-University de Sherbrooke (CTA) and produce zero-emission electric vehicles."

One of the specialized products being assembled at this new facility, the prototype of the Can Am Commander electric side-by-side vehicle, was introduced in Montréal last summer during Club BRP. In light of the reaction from dealers, distributors and the media from around the world, BRP is going ahead with marketing and selling the Can-Am Commander electric side-by-side vehicle.

"We will be using the same marketing and distribution strategy that we used for our Can-Am Spyder roadster," said Mihai Rasidescu, vice-president, Specialized Vehicles Group. "We will recruit from within our existing dealer network to develop the business and gradually expand as market demand grows. We will go out in phases and, starting July 1, 2012, the Can-Am Commander electric side-by-side vehicle will be on sale at some BRP dealers in Québec, Ontario and Alberta, and in California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas and Virginia."

The first Can-Am Commander electric side-by-side vehicle goes to Sherbrooke University, BRP's partner in the CTA that developed the vehicle's electric technology. The vehicle can reach a speed of 40 km/h and has a range of between 40 and 160 km, depending on driving habits, vehicle speed, terrain conditions, weather temperature and battery type.

The new assembly plant will create 20 new jobs in Sherbrooke and will grow according to demand.

BRP receives special "Verena – powered by Verbund" award

Gunskirchen, Austria, March 23, 2012 - BRP-Powertrain was chosen from over 627 submissions to receive the "Verena" special award for the development of the Rotax Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), which overcomes the biggest problem of electric vehicle technology – limited range.

Developed by BRP-Powertrain's R&D centre, in cooperation with the Regionales Innovation Centrum (RIC) and the Graz University of Technology, the Rotax APU is a system combining Rotax ACE 600 combustion engine, generator and power electronics, which feeds energy into the battery as needed. Therefore the size of the battery is reduced to a minimum, resulting in cost and weight reductions as well. Short ranges with low power consumption - e.g. in the city - are covered by the battery while the Rotax APU kicks in for greater distances.

"We are focused on the development of environmentally friendly technologies with higher energy efficiency and lower emissions," declared Gerd Ohrnberger, vice-president and general manager of BRP's Powertrain division. "The Rotax APU permits us to move forward towards that goal."

"The Rotax ACE 600 engine fulfils the challenging requirements of the APU - low fuel consumption, low emission values and an excellent power-to-weight ratio,” explained Wolfgang Wukisiewitsch, vice-president, Research & Development, Powertrain division. “The engine, including the generator, weighs no more than 69 kg.”

The special “Verena-powered by Verbund” award is awarded for the first time this year. Out of the submissions for the state prize “Innovation”, one company from each federal state was recommended for the special "Verena-powered by Verbund" award. Among these nine companies, three were nominated for realizing innovative projects in the areas of energy efficiency / management, sustainable energies, e-mobility and energy systems in cooperation with universities, universities of applied science and extramural research institutions.

BRP INTRODUCES MOST FUEL EFFICIENT AIRCRAFT ENGINE IN THE INDUSTRY, THE ROTAX 912 iS

Gunskirchen, Austria, March 8, 2012BRP launches the new Rotax 912 iS engine. An evolution of the Rotax 912 engine, the 912 iS engine delivers 38% to 70% better fuel efficiency than comparable competitive engines in the light sport, ultra-light aircraft and the general aviation industry.

BRP engineers have incorporated technology enhancements such as a modern fuel injection system and digital engine control unit (ECU) to the Rotax 912 iS engine to ensure optimal fuel and air mixture at any altitude for longer flight range, lower operating costs and CO2emission reduction. The new Rotax 912 iS engine also provides a time of 2,000 hours between overhauls (TBO); the same TBO as the 912 engine. Mass production of the Rotax 912 iS engines will start in May 2012.

"BRP maintained its commitment to innovation through the recent economic crisis to continue developing high performance and more fuel-efficient engines," stated José Boisjoli, president and CEO. ''The Rotax 912 iS engine is the result of this engagement and our commitment to always exceed consumers' expectations.''

With more than 170,000 Rotax aircraft engines sold in almost 40 years, Rotax Aircraft Engines dominate the light sport and ultra-light aircraft market. With 20 authorized distributors and a network of more than 200 sales and repair centres supporting customers worldwide, BRP supplies engines to more than 80% of all aircraft manufacturers in its segment.

"The development of a 4-stroke, 4-cylinder 100 hp aircraft engine with a redundant electronic fuel injection system is a first in the industry; it makes it ideal for all kinds of light sport aircraft, generating increased opportunities in general aviation market," said Gerd Ohrnberger, vice-president and general manager, Powertrain division.

After testing the new Rotax 912 iS engine, Tine Tomazic, engineer and pilot for Pipistrel Aircraft, said: "The injection system ensures the best fuel and air mixture on each cylinder at every possible altitude while delivering the same 100 hp as the Rotax 912 ULS engine, therefore producing fewer emissions. Based on these facts, I would say that the Rotax 912iS engine is a powerful, economic and more fuel-efficient engine."

BRP BRINGS NEW INNOVATIONS AND NEW LOOK TO SKI-DOO MODELS FOR 2013

Orlando, Florida, February 20, 2012– BRP introduces the 2013 Ski-Doo snowmobile line-up to its dealers from North America, Russia and Japan, featuring two new chassis, tMotion rear suspension, Flex Edge tracks and more.  The new line-up will appeal to consumers with features to improve their experience and raise the bar for the snowmobile industry once again.

“BRP’s continued focus on innovating to improve our customers' experience is what defines the 2013 Ski-Doo line-up,” stated Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager for the North America division. “The new ideas and fresh thinking that we applied to both trail and mountain snowmobiles continue to separate BRP from competitors and keep our core customers engaged while attracting newcomers to the sport.”

NEW REV-XS and REV-XM chassis

Leading the way at this year’s annual dealer meeting is the all new REV-XM platform for the mountains and the new REV-XS body style for cross-country and cross-over applications. The REV-XM platform delivers new ergonomics, function and styling to the mountain market and will establish a new benchmark in rear suspension and handling with innovative features like the tMotion rear suspension and Flex Edge track design. The REV-XS platform, for trail use, takes the look to a new level with layered floating edge design and intricate details including a jewel inspired headlight, side panels that significantly improve both function and appeal, a new tail light, snow flap and unique storage area.

“We start the second decade of the REV chassis design with the attributes of rigid pyramidal frame construction, driver and mass centered design, by giving it a whole new look and feel,” declared Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager for the International division. “BRP is bringing specialized products to markets around the world that allow our dealers and distributors to enrich the consumer experience and keep BRP products at the forefront.”

tMotion Rear Suspension

Creative thinking has lead to a new design that enables the rear suspension rails to twist two degrees in each direction – allowing the rider to more easily initiate mountain type carving turns. The suspension also incorporates a rising-rate rear shock motion ratio to deliver a comfortable ride in small bumps while maintaining the capacity for larger bumps.

Flex Edge Track

Thinking outside the box once again has led to another innovation from BRP. The 16 inch (41 cm) wide Flex Edge track features centered reinforcing rods that are 12 inches (31 cm) long rather than traditional designs running full width. This allows the outside two inches (5 cm) of track to actually bend and flex when a rider initiates a mountain type carving turn, again requiring less effort.

rMotion Rear Suspension Expands

The widely acclaimed rMotion rear suspension expands into the Renegade model as engineers reworked it to fit the 137-inch (392-cm) track length for a segment that continues to see increased consumer interest. Plus, the industry-leading suspension will be offered to more consumers as the Ski-Doo MX Z TNT models will gain its benefits of comfort, capability, and adjustability.

Integrated Accessories – Plus LinQ System

The trend of customizing to meet specific needs continues to grow. BRP therefore introduces a complete line of accessories for the new REV-XM and REV-XS platforms also. Innovative items like auxiliary light and GPS kits integrate perfectly and are prewired for plug and play installation, or new 1 + 1 seats that provide flexibility to comfortably fit a passenger quickly and easily.

Also new is the LinQ quick-attach system that allows fast and easy installation of modular accessories like a fuel caddy and tunnel bag.

BRP WINS FIFTH NMMA INNOVATION AWARD IN FOUR YEARS

Miami, FL, February 16, 2012 - At the recent Miami International Boat Show,BRP continued its award-winning streak in the marine industry with its fifth National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award in four years for its new high-performance 2012 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 watercraft.

"BRP's Sea-Doo Ergolock seat, angled footwells, and T3 hull combine to create a PWC with incredible turning ability and maximum comfort designed to build confidence in its rider. It made me an instant expert,” said NMMA Innovation Awardjudge Alan Jones.

For the fourth consecutive year, BRP won the NMMA Innovation Award in the PWC, Jet Boats, and Pontoon Boats category. The all-new 2012 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 watercraft follows the Sea-Doo GTI 130 model (2011 winner), Sea-Doo RXT-X 260 watercraft and BRP MOVE iCatch trailer (2010 winners), and the Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS 255 PWC (2009 winner) in BRP's innovation awards legacy by introducing the next generation of high-performance watercraft that allows the rider to fully realize the performance potential with improved rider ergonomics and a new hull design.

"BRP redefines watercraft with the introduction of the Sea-Doo RXP-X 260* model, marking the next generation of high-performance PWC,” said Yves Leduc, vice-president – general manager, North America division. “Winning five of these prestigious NMMA Innovation awards in four years is a tribute to BRP’s dedication to developing designs and technologies that lead the marine industry and the boating public into the future.”

The new Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft redefines the musclecraft segment with an ominous visual appeal from its flowing facet design, ram air intakes, large side grills and distinctive new Ergolock system and tight-turning T3 hull. BRP's Ergolock system includes angled footwell wedges and a gradually narrowing seat design to help better connect the rider to the watercraft. It reduces upper body fatigue by allowing the rider to ride faster, for longer periods of time. BRP’s Ergolock system complements the tight turning aspect of the T3 hull that features an innovative dual surface design that responds differently at high or low speeds. The new T3 hull shape combines soft and hard chines and adjustable sponsons with winglets and trim tabs that allow the watercraft to lean into corners, better maintaining entry and exit speeds after turns.

"BRP continues to be recognized for developing groundbreaking innovations that enhance the riding experience for our consumers’ around the world," stated Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, International division. "This latest recognition for the new Sea-Doo RXP-X 260* watercraft reinforces BRP’s standing as the industry leader, both in terms of performance and safety."

BRP, apprentice shop, receives BGF Seal of Quality for workplace health promotion

Gunskirchen, Austria, February 09, 2012

BRP-Powertrain GmbH & Co KG receives award BGF Seal of Quality from the Upper Austrian Regional Health Insurance Fund (OÖGKK) and the Austrian Federal Minister of Health, Alois Stöger. BRP's Austrian affiliate received the award for exemplary workplace health promotion at a ceremony held at the Old City Hall in Linz on February 8, 2012.

As one of the region’s largest vocational training enterprises, BRP was involved in the model project “U21” from December 2007 to August 2009 – a health project initiated by the OÖGKK which was specifically oriented towards young employees and apprentices.

The Austrian network for workplace health promotion initiated the BGF Seal of Quality three years ago to ensure the quality of workplace health promotion in Austria. The Seal of Quality is the outwardly visible sign when a company implements sustainable measures for workplace health promotion.

“The safety and health of all employees rank foremost at BRP. In addition to numerous key health promotion activities, e.g. a company-owned health and fitness centre which all employees and their relatives can use, BRP also particularly emphasizes the health promotion of apprentices,” says DI Thomas Loibl, BRP-Powertrain site manager.

BRP's Austrian facility trains its apprentices in seven technical professions ranging from mechatronic technician to engine vehicle technician as well as office management assistant.
