MARCOS PATRONELLI AND OLIVIER POTTIER COMPLETE STAGE SIX

After the apocalyptical special stage yesterday, the organising ASO modified the nature of special stage six from San Rafaël to Mendoza and put back the start of the day by two hours. The distance of the actual special stage was reduced from 395km to 178km.

Marcos Patronelli and Olivier Potier consolidated their fifth and 10th places in the overall provisional classification of the 2009 Dakar Rally.

The special stage was neutralised at the second passage control and 385 competitors were authorised to restart this morning. Marcos Patronelli was awarded three minutes of time penalties for not passing the first passage control yesterday.

Today, the Argentinean Clossard (No.273) consolidated his place in the overall classification with the fifth place on the sixth stage, behind the provisional leader, Joan Manuel Gonzalez.

Frenchman Olivier Pottier (No. 276) began well and continue at a good pace to obtain the 14th fastest time and gain one place in the overall standings, moving up to 11th overall.

The Dakar 2009 stopped for Carlo Collet (No. 274). The Brazilian finished the special stage yesterday on board a medical helicopter after an accident that left him without serious injury. His Can-Am Renegade 800 was later recovered by his team.

Dutchman Alex Brusselers was not present at the start of the stage of the day and was not classified in the results.

Tomorrow, the riders leave the bivouac in Mendoza for the seventh special stage of 816km in the direction of Valparaiso in Chile. Before crossing the spine of the Andes mountain range to enter Chile, they will have to pass a series of sand dunes, an area of fesh-fesh, called ‘Guadal’ by the locals.

This will be the only time when competitors reach an altitude above 3,000 metres, passing to the side of the majestic peak of Aconcagua (6959m), the highest point in South America.

MARCOS PATRONELLI Y OLIVIER POTTIER COMPLETAN LA SEXTA ETAPA

Después de una etapa especial apocalíptica el día de ayer, ASO modifico la sexta etapa desde San Rafael a Mendoza, retrasando la salida por 2 horas y reduciendo la distancia total de 395km a 178km.

Marcos Patronelli y Olivier Potier consolidaron el 5to y 10mo lugar en la clasificación general al finalizar la sexta etapa.

Esta etapa fue neutralizada después del segundo control de paso, y apenas 385 competidores fueron autorizados para la salida de esta mañana. Marcos Patronelli recibió tres minutos de penalti por no haber pasado correctamente por el primer punto de control (CP1) el día anterior.

Ayer marco el último día de Carlo Collet (No 274). El corredor Brasilero finalizó su participación del DAKAR abordo un helicóptero de rescate después de un accidente que lo dejo sin graves complicaciones. Su Can-Am Renegade 800 fue recuperado por su equipo esa misma tarde.

El corredor Alex Brusselers no estuvo presente en la salida de hoy y por ende no clasifico para los resultados de la sexta etapa.

Mañana, los corredores salen de Mendoza en la séptima etapa de 816km en dirección a Valparaíso. Antes de cruzar la vertebra de la cordillera de los Andes para entrar a Chile, tendrán que pasar por una serie de dunas arenosas, y un área de “fesh-fesh”, mejor conocida como “Guadal” por los locales.

Esta será la única etapa en la cual los corredores alcanzaran una altitud de 3,000metros sobre el nivel del mar, pasando a un lado del majestuoso pico de Aconcagua (6,959m), el punto más alto de Suramérica.

MARCOS PATRONELLI ET OLIVIER POTTIER À L’ARRIVÉE DE L’ÉTAPE 6 !

Suite à l’étape apocalyptique d’hier, l’organisation A.S.O. a modifié le parcours du secteur sélectif 6, de San Rafaël à Mendoza, reportant de deux heures le départ de l’étape du jour. La distance de la spéciale chronométrée a également été raccourcie de 395 km à 178 km. Marcos Patronelli et Olivier Potier confortent leurs 5^ème et 10^ème positions au classement général provisoire du Dakar 2009.

La spéciale 5 de la veille a été neutralisé à partir du CP2, ce qui a permis à 385 concurrents d’être autorisés à continuer le Dakar 2009. N’ayant pas pointé au CP1 lors de la spéciale d’hier, Marcos Patronelli a écopé de trois minutes de pénalités.

Aujourd’hui l’argentin, dossard n°273, conforte sa place au général avec le 5^ème temps de l’étape 6, derrière le leader provisoire, Joan Manuel Gonzalez.

Le français Olivier Pottier n°276 tient bon et continue à son rythme en obtenant le 14^ème temps de la journée et gagne une place au général, s’intercalant à la 11^ème position.

Le Dakar 2009 s’arrête là pour Carlo Collet (n°274) ! Le brésilien a fini la spéciale d’hier à bord de l’hélicoptère médical après une chute sans gravité corporelle. Son Can-Am Renegade 800 a été récupéré par son équipe accompagnatrice.

Le Hollandais Alex Brusselers ne s’est pas présenté au départ de l’étape du jour et est classé hors course.

Demain, Les pilotes partiront du bivouac de Mendoza pour une étape 7 de 816 km, direction Valparaiso au Chili. Avant de traverser la Cordillère des Andes pour rejoindre le Chili, ils devront affronter encore une série de dunes et une séance de fesh-fesh, appelée le « Guadal » par les locaux. La seule fois de l’épreuve où les compétiteurs monteront jusqu’à 3000 mètres d’altitude, passant par le point culminant des Andes, l’Aconcagua (6959m).
