2000 In Brief

The company demonstrates its leadership in the powersports industry with advancements in innovative features in terms of safety, ergonomics, fuel efficiency and performance and as a result, garners numerous awards. The BRP brand is born. The company confirms its commitment to research and development with the inauguration of two R & D facilities. It adds to its offering with the acquisition of the Outboard Marine Corporation and with the launch of its Can-Am Spyder roadster. BRP expands its global footprint by going direct in a number of key markets.

2008 BRP rallies Can-Am Spyder roadster owners for the first Homecoming Owners Event

On June 6, the first Can-Am Spyder roadster owners rally took place where. Some 350 Can-Am roadster owners gathered in Valcourt, Québec for the vehicle's first homecoming owner event.

2008 BRP recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard

On September 5, the United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety recognizes BRP with its prestigious Boating Safety Award. This award is given to BRP for its commitment to improving boating safety through the introduction of an unprecedented electronically controlled hand-braking system, the iBR system (intelligent Brake and Reverse), on two of its 2009 Sea-Doo watercraft models.

2008 BRP kicks off 100th anniversary celebrations of the Evinrude brand

For 100 years, the Evinrude name has been synonymous with boating innovation. From the earliest innovations to today’s Evinrude E-TEC technology, Evinrude engines have been helping people spend more time enjoying their boating experience. This history of innovation continues today.

2008 BRP redefines boating with iControl technology

In September, BRP changes the nature of boating with the introduction of iControl:
iBR™ (intelligent braking and reverse): the world's first ever on-water braking system;
iS (intelligent suspension): allowing the hull to move independently from the seat, handlebars and footrests with a full 15 cm (6 in) of play;
iTC (intelligent throttle control): bringing hassle-free operation and precision to every riding situation;
S3 Hull: a stepped hull designed to keep the watercraft glued to the water.

2008 BRP goes direct in Austria

In July, BRP establishes direct commercial operations in Austria.

In October, BRP establishes direct commercial operations in Mexico.

2008 The Evinrude brand celebrates its centennial year

BRP launches the all E-TEC two-stroke line-up for the centennial year of Evinrude. The line-up includes 198 engine models ranging from 25 to 300 horsepower.

2008 Inauguration of the Centre de technologies avancées (CTA)

On June 16, BRP, in partnership with Sherbrooke University, inaugurates the Centre de technologies avancées BRP-Sherbrooke University (CTA) in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada. The CTA has the mandate to develop new, more environmentally friendly technologies for motorized recreational vehicles. More specifically, the CTA must develop five new technologies for integration into the manufacturing processes of BRP by 2012.

2008 Inauguration of the Laurent Beaudoin Design & Innovation Centre (CDI)

On September 10, BRP inaugurates the Laurent Beaudoin Design & Innovation Centre. The facility is home to BRP's design and advanced concept teams who work to create highly innovative, functional and exciting products that exceed people’s recreational needs.
