1980 In Brief
The company sponsors the Sarajevo and Calgary winter Olympic games. It expands its product offering with a new line of Sea-Doo watercraft and with the purchase of Nortrac Oy, manufacturer of Lynx snowmobiles.
1981 Bombardier introduces the BR-400 snow groomer
The BR-400 alpine ski hill snow groomer is introduced to the North American market.
1984 Bombardier sponsors the Sarajevo Olympics
Bombardier is the official supplier of tracked vehicles for the Sarajevo Olympic Winter Games, which included alpine snow groomers, Nordic ski trail groomers and Ski-Doo snowmobiles.
1988 A new generation of Sea-Doo watercraft
In the spring, the new generation of Sea-Doo personal watercraft is launched creating a whole new industry.
1989 Bombardier grows to include Nordtrac Oy
Bombardier establishes an equal partnership with Finland's sole snowmobile manufacturer: Nordtrac Oy. Located in Rovaniemi, this division builds Lynx snowmobiles designed for the Scandinavian market. Today, the company is fully owned by BRP and named BRP-Finland Oy.

Bombardier is the official supplier of grooming vehicles and snowmobiles for the Calgary Olympic Winter Games.
1989 Bombardier continues to expand
In February, acquisition of the Pointe-Claire, Québec, assets and operations of the tracked vehicle division of the American company Universal Go-Tract and those of Universal Go-Tract of Georgia Ltd in White, Georgia.
