Background

Rovaniemi shares a unique history with Valcourt. Just eight years after Joseph-Armand Bombardier began to mass-produce Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Velsa Oy began manufacturing Lynx snowmobiles in Kurikka, Finland; in 1987 his business was acquired by the company and moved to the Lapland capital, Rovaniemi.

Infrastructure

Rovaniemi is BRP's manufacturing site for Lynx snowmobiles, made specifically for Scandinavian snow conditions; some Ski-Doo snowmobiles and Can-Am all-terrain vehicles are also manufactured at this facility. In 2008, a new facility was built to bring together assembly, product development, purchasing, production, distribution, logistics, administration, sales & marketing under one roof.
