2000 In Brief
The company demonstrates its leadership in the powersports industry with advancements in innovative features in terms of safety, ergonomics, fuel efficiency and performance and as a result, garners numerous awards. The BRP brand is born. The company confirms its commitment to research and development with the inauguration of two R & D facilities. It adds to its offering with the acquisition of the Outboard Marine Corporation and with the launch of its Can-Am Spyder roadster. BRP expands its global footprint by going direct in a number of key markets.
2009 BRP introduces first air-controlled suspension system
In May, BRP launches the industry's first air-controlled suspension system on the Can-Am Outlander 800R MAX EFI LTD ATV.
2009 BRP's Evinrude engines ranked highest in customer satisfaction
In February, BRP's Evinrude outboard engines rank, for the third time in six years, highest in customer satisfaction in the United States among two-stroke outboard brand manufacturers by the J.D. Power and Associates Marine Engine Competitive Information Study.
2009 BRP garners numerous awards
In April, BRP receives numerous awards for its Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS 255 watercraft including: the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award, the United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary (USGC) and Boating Safety Award, 2009 "Best of the Year Award" from MotorBoating Magazine, "Watercraft of the Year" by Watercraft World magazine, and a Red Dot product design award in the transportation category.
2009 BRP wins a $10 million contract
On November 4, BRP wins a US$10 million contract from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) for its Evinrude multi-fuel engines (MFE).
2009 BRP launches the Can-Am Spyder RT roadster
In September, BRP launches the Can-Am Spyder RT. With a host of touring options, including an optional trailer package with 622 liters (22 cu. ft) of storage; an ultra-comfort touring saddle, electronic cruise control, dynamic power steering, adjustable rear suspension, electronic windshield, premium audio package with iPod plug-in, heated passenger handles and a digitally encoded security system.
2009 BRP wins best of "What's New" from Popular Science Magazine
Popular Science magazine decorates BRP with the coveted Grand Award Winner in the annual Best of "What’s New" for its 2009 Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS watercraft with iControl technology.
2009 BRP launches a 6.4 m (21 ft) Sea-Doo boat
Also in September, BRP launches a 21 ft (6.4 m) boat, (Sea-Doo 210 Challenger and 210 Wake models), and expands iBR (intelligent brake and reverse) to all its 2010 Sea-Doo GTX and RXT watercraft and to the Sea-Doo Wake Pro 215 boat.
2009 BRP celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Ski-Doo brand with new technologies
BRP celebrates 50 years of Ski-Doo snowmobiles by bringing new engine technologies to the market. BRP brings Formula 1 racing and automobile technologies to the snowmobile world with the introduction of the Rotax 1200 4-TEC and the Rotax 600 H.O. E-TEC engines. The Rotax 1200 4-TEC offers maximum performance, reduced emissions, high fuel efficiency, low sound emission, high reliability and dependability and easy-to-use low-maintenance. BRP's E-TEC technology has proven successful after receiving the EPA Clean Air Technology Excellence Award. The Rotax 600 H.O. E-TEC engine has the lowest emissions in the industry, with practically no smoke or smell typically associated with 2-stroke engines.
