1990 In Brief
BRP launches Sea-Doo boats equipped with direct drive propulsion technology and brings to market the Traxter all-terrain vehicle. Sea-Doo watercraft hits two million units and become the quietest and most fuel-efficient on the water. BRP celebrates 40 years of Ski-Doo snowmobiles and 30 years of Lynx snowmobiles.
1991 Sea-Doo XP watercraft is launched
The Sea-Doo XP high-performance watercraft is launched.
1993 Ski-Doo sleds hit two million
On September 14, the two millionth Ski-Doo snowmobile is manufactured in Valcourt, Québec. Bombardier creates a new segment in the snowmobiling market with the Summit model, especially designed for powder snow and mountain terrain.
1994 The first jet drive boat enters the market
Launch of the first Sea-Doo Jet Drive boat: the twin-engine, 4.4 m (14 ft), four-passenger Speedster model.
1995 A new generation of snow grooming equipment
Bombardier launches the Plus MP new-generation snow groomer, a microprocessor-controlled vehicle that uses innovative technology.
1995 Sea-Doo HX PWC enters the market
Market entry of the first watercraft equipped with a high-performance suspension system, the Sea-Doo HX model, wins an Innovation Award in the boat category of the 1994 International Marine Trades Exhibit & Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
1995 Bombardier acquires AMT Marine Inc.
In February, the recreational product line is expanded with the acquisition of the Québec company AMT Marine Inc., already a supplier and a partner in Sea-Doo Jet Drive boat production.
1995 Bombardier's Industrial Equipment Division is relocated to Granby, Québec
The Industrial Equipment division activities are consolidated in Granby, Québec, in a newly renovated plant. The division manufactures vehicles to groom alpine and nordic terrain, to plough sidewalks, and heavy-duty tracked vehicles used in harsh terrain for the forestry, mining, telecommunications and utilities industries.
1996 D.E.S.S. technology is introduced on watercraft
Bombardier introduces D.E.S.S. (Digital Encoded Security System) technology on some watercraft models.
1996 The Bombardier NV model is launched
In November, Bombardier launches its electric neighborhood vehicle, the Bombardier NV, principally designed for transportation in residential areas of the southern United States.
1997 Sea-Doo watercraft become one of the quietest on the water
Bombardier introduces the innovative D-Sea-Bel technology, a sound reduction system that lessens noise by up to 50 %.
1997 500,000 units of watercraft produced in Valcourt
On February 28, a 1997 Sea-Doo GTI watercraft makes history by becoming the 500,000th unit produced in Valcourt, Québec.

1998 Bombardier celebrates 30 years of Lynx snowmobiles
In March, the Lynx brand turns 30.
1998 Bombardier wins numerous awards
Bombardier Recreational Products wins two Industrial Design Excellence Awards (1998 IDEA Awards) sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and BusinessWeek Magazine. The 1997 Sea-Doo Challenger 1800 boat wins the gold IDEA, and the 1997 Sea-Doo XP watercraft wins the silver.
1998 Bombardier enters the all-terrain vehicle market
In February, Bombardier Recreational Products enters the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) market by introducing a prototype of its innovative Bombardier ATV, the Traxter model.
1999 Sea-Doo LRV watercraft is launched
The four-passenger Sea-Doo LRV watercraft is launched. It is the largest personal watercraft in the industry.
1999 Bombardier is awarded "Design of the Decade"
Bombardier receives the “Design of The Decade” Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and BusinessWeek Magazine for excellence, innovation and inspiration in the design of its Sea-Doo watercraft.
1999 Introducing Orbital direct injection technology
The Sea-Doo GTX DI and RX DI watercraft models are now equipped with new Orbital direct injection technology, which offers reduced emissions and substantially improved fuel performance. The D-SEA-BEL sound reduction system comes standard on all Sea-Doo watercraft.
1999 Traxter is named ATV of the Year
In March, the Traxter ATV is named “ATV of the Year” by ATV Magazine. Launch of a second ATV model, the DS 650 for experienced sports enthusiasts.
1999 Bombardier teams up with Mercury Marine
Bombardier enters into a technological association with Mercury Marine to equip 4,8 m (16 ft) and longer Sea-Doo boats with M2 jet drive high-performance engines.
