Dear Ski-Doo® Owner,
This notice is sent to you as a follow-up to the safety recall letter you received in March 2006, and is in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act, the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act and other applicable laws.
What is the reason for this notice?
In cooperation with Transport Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (“BRP“) conducted a voluntary safety recall at the end of last season (March 2006) of all Mach Z® 2005 and 2006 and MX Z® RENEGADE® 1000 2006 Ski-Doo models. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a potentially affected vehicle. We are re-contacting you again because the replacement parts are now available.
What is the potential problem?
As described in the March 2006 safety recall letter: "Due to a problem with starter ring gear, cracks may appear. This may cause ring gear fragmentation at high speeds and debris may act as projectiles. This situation can potentially cause serious injuries or even death to riders or bystanders."
What should you do?
Contact your authorized BRP dealer to make an appointment. The dealer will install or replace the ring gear.
• If you had your ring gear removed, you must have the new one installed.
• If the ring gear was not removed, make sure the vehicle is not used before it gets replaced. This work will be performed at no charge to you.
What to do if you feel this notice is an error?
This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.
