SPYDER ROADSTER OWNERS UNITE TO EXPERIENCE THE Y-FACTOR …

Verwood, Dorset, September 2009 – on Saturday 19th September 2009, Can-Am™ Spyder® Roadster owners from all over the UK travelled in convoy to Coventry, England, where BRP hosted its inaugural Can-Am Spyder Roadster Community Meet.

The 'Thrill Your Senses' Spyder roadster community meet combined an adrenalin-packed weekend of action, culminating in a visit to the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Rockingham Speedway (owners were provided with complimentary passes including pit access). Furthermore, guests enjoyed a BBQ, an overnight stay in a luxury 4-star Warwickshire hotel and were among some of the first in the UK to view an exclusive video preview of the stunning 2010 model line-up from BRP.

This event proved a fantastic opportunity to take to the open road, turn heads and unite Spyder Roadster riders.  The day started with a ride to one of our meeting points, where guests were welcomed by a member of the Can-Am Spyder Events Team and other Spyder owners from all over the UK. The group then rode in convoy through scenic countryside to our chosen destination.

Upon arriving at our destination, the 4-star Ansty Hall Hotel near Coventry, guests could relax before an informal evening of food, drink and entertainment. During the evening, whilst overlooking the beautiful grounds of Ansty Hall, our Can-Am Spyder owners could get to know other enthusiasts, as well as meet and chat with representatives from our BRP UK and dealerships.

As part of the evening's entertainment, several awards were presented to the Can-Am Spyder owners:

- The award for the Longest Distance Travelled to the Event went to Mr David McPhait, who on the morning of the 19th had ridden his Can-Am Spyder from Falkirk, Scotland to Coventry to mark the occasion. (A special mention should also be given to our dealer, Glenn Miller, who travelled from ATV Adventure Xtreme in Glasgow with another of his customers, Mr John Hamilton.)

- The Best Road Trip to Date Award went to Mr Martin Taylor, who rode from Coventry to Barcelona through the Piranese. (Plus a special mention went to Dan Simpson who will soon be on his way to Morocco to drive around the Atlas Mountains, and David Freeman who went around France)

- The award for the Highest Mileage went to Mr James Kenyon, who had racked-up 7,800 miles on his first Spyder and was now planning to purchase a second.

- The Best Customisation Award was presented to Mr Lee Cubbon, who had added custom panniers to his Phantom Black Spyder and had it wrapped with a gloss black finish along with custom front shock covers.

  - Finally, the accolade of Spyder Owner of the Year was presented to Mr Jeff Rhodes. Jeff has been a Spyder owner since October 2008. He launched the first Can Am Spyder Ryder website: www.spyderryder.co.uk to help Spyder owners come together online and form a group to meet regularly for social events and planned rides.  BRP wished to acknowledge his ongoing efforts and determination in his mission to build the Spyder Ryder community.
“There is no other road going machine like the Spyder and when riding it I can't take the smile from my face” commented Jeff.

Later in the evening, the Can-Am Spyder-ryders grouped into teams and participated in a BRP themed quiz.

On Sunday morning, the group reconvened in the main reception of Ansty Hall from where they made their way in convoy to Rockingham Speedway, Northamptonshire for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championships: all guests were given complimentary tickets to the event as a thank you.

BRP wishes to thank all the Can-Am Spyder owners, guests and dealers who were in attendance and hope they enjoyed the event as much as we did!
