Lausanne, Switzerland, 16th June 2008 – BRP and its Can-Am™ Spyder™ roadster equipped with sequential electronic transmission (SE-5) made quite a splash at the 76th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours. This event, famous everywhere in the world, brought together a crowd of over 258,500 fans and race crews, more than 2700 journalists and over 628 million television viewers spread across the world. The race kept all its promises thanks to a total of 52 teams in the competition. The two favourites, Audi and Peugeot, fought out a very close duel right up to the last few minutes of the race.

BRP and this legendary race share the common values of performance, reliability and innovation. What therefore is more natural than that BRP should take the opportunity at this meeting to give all its business partners a world-exclusive preview of its Can-Am Spyder roadster with sequential electronic transmission (SE-5).

Thanks to this new technological achievement, BRP completes its product offering and now provides powersports enthusiasts with a vehicle offering increased ease and comfort in use. The SE-5 version of the Can-Am Spyder roadster is also available in a sporty livery of Roadster Red which further accentuates the dynamism and the aggressive look of the roadster. BRP’s commercial partners were able to put the qualities of the sequential electronic transmission to the test on the famous Alain Prost kart circuit and the road section of the Le Mans 24 hour circuit. After racing against each other in a kart race, the lucky ones had the opportunity to test the famous Rotax® RM-1® karts from the well-known engine-manufacturer of BRP which powers the Can-Am Spyder roadster.

After distinguishing itself on the circuit, the Can-Am Spyder roadster was one of the attractions in the traditional pilots’ grand parade through the streets of Le Mans. The Spyder roadster proudly took its place alongside such prestigious brands as Ferrari, Bugatti or even Aston Martin. More than 130,000 spectators and over 2000 journalists were able to admire these famous racing cars and were in a position to experience the Y-Factor™ at first hand.

The circuit of the Le Mans 24 hour race was also the scene of the first gathering in Europe of Can-Am Spyder roadster owners. More than 100 fans, mainly from France and Germany, took the opportunity to meet and share their passion for powersports in general and the Can-Am Spyder in particular in a unique setting. BRP marked this enthusiasts’ meeting by providing an enclosure for its guests where they could follow the 24 hour race and later re-live its exciting moments while under cover.

This event is the first in an enjoyable season of ultimate experiences at the wheel of the Can-Am Spyder roadster. It’s your turn now!
