Tasmania, Australia, October 26th 2008 – Held in the small town of Smithton Tasmania, racers and spectators from around Australia, including our own Team Can-Am, crossed the Bass Straight to attend the 2008 ATV Nationals.
With the Production class turning out to be quite the crowd favourite, Can-Am racers dominated the podium grabbing all three places. Team Can-Am riders Michael Roycroft and Bullet finished in first and third respectively, with Nick Chivers grabbing second. The race was extremely close with all three battling it out across the five rounds of competition.
Nick Chivers also went on to finish first in Expert class setting a strong leading pace among highly modified competitor bikes on his Production Can–Am DS450X. Even more impressive was the fact he finished first and achieved the maximum number of points across the five rounds of competition.
With Team Can-Am joining pits with local Can-Am dealer, Lingers Motorcycles, Can-Am had a great presence on site. The new 2009 DS450X mx was also on show and featured in a track demonstration during Sunday's lunch which grabbed the attention of spectators and other factory backed teams. 2009 will no doubt be another great year for Can-Am racing with the new model already turning heads and providing the levels of power and torque that has even the most novice rider abuzz.
