Rotorua, New Zealand, April, 2008 – The 2008 New Zealand Jet Sport Nationals hosted by the Auckland Jet Sport Association was held at the picturesque Blue Lake in Rotorua from the 14th through to the 16th of March 2008.
Wow - what an amazing event! The weather in Rotorua was extremely hot - being one of the hottest weekends of New Zealand’s summer - but the wind was ripping into the Blue Lake with a mind of its own - giving a good rough chop both Saturday and Sunday.
Most of the competitors were kept busy all weekend, maintaining the fastest ski's on the water - all the efforts paid off for the spectators - being able to see some record speeds from the Sea-Doo® watercraft brigade.
BRP Sea Doo's dominated the water with a huge number of RXP's - including quite a large number of the 2008 RXP-X's with BRP Sea-Doo’s winning all classes entered including in most cases filling all place getters!
Expert/Elite Runabout 1200 Open - Expert/Elite Runabout 1200 Stock - Expert/Elite Runabout 800 Open - Expert/Elite Women’s Runabout 1200 Stock – Novice Runabout 1200 Stock - Veterans Runabout 1200 Open - Veterans Runabout 1200 Stock and the Watercross Open, all Sea-Doo® winners!
The new Sea-Doo® RXP-X's have changed the face of the 'stock' classes for good with all other models struggling to keep up - making it a run-away race for Sea-Doo® riders - including the women’s race.
“BRP is once again positioned to redefine the PWC industry with its high performance X models” said Grégoire Dupont, General Manager, BRP Australia.
“The Sea-Doo® new innovations and technologies clearly demonstrate why no one has more momentum than BRP in the powersports industry — and why Sea-Doo watercraft remains Number One worldwide.”
