Bombardier introduces newest addition to Sea-Doo sport boat lineup

New Orleans, Louisiana - 2003-08-25

The Sea-Doo Speedster 200 Makes An Industry Splash by Fusing Power, Performance and Styling in One Affordable Sport Boat Package

Bombardier Recreational Products launched the newest addition to the Sea-Doo sport boat lineup - the Speedster® 200. This innovative new sport boat provides 310 hp from twin 155 hp RotaxTM 4-TECTM jet drive engines. The Speedster 200 offers excellent acceleration, handling and comfort for a day on the water in a dynamic-looking 20-foot (6.02 metre) platform.

Production focus was put into delivering superb product integrity and craftsmanship in a high performance sport boat. The Speedster 200 increases the number of Sea-Doo sport boat models to ten, ranging from the 14 foot (4.27 metre)
SportsterTM LE-DITM to the 22 foot (6.71 foot) IslandiaTM.
Sea-Doo sport boats target the recreational, sport
performance and ski/wakeboard boating markets.

Another impressive feature is the Sea-Doo exclusive closed loop cooling system, which does not allow water from outside the boat into the cooling system. This provides for a constant temperature in the engine, which allows for optimum engine performance.       The closed loop system is especially important in saltwater destinations, where salt water can cause corrosive damage. Sea-Doo sport boats are available through authorized dealers across North America and internationally. Visit www.seadoo.com for the dealer locator.

Eye-catching Design Elements
The new platform, with well-known Sea-Doo styling and functionality makes a strong character statement. Comparable to a concept boat, the styling and innovative features offer power and performance. The responsive handling will impress even the most experienced performance boater, while being friendly to new boaters as well. The Speedster 200 exemplifies what fun on the water is all about.

Key design features of the new Speedster 200 include the twin 155 hp Rotax 4-TEC four stroke technology engines that provide 310 horses for outstanding acceleration and handling on the water. The closed loop cooling system and strong side air intake contribute to the high performance of the engine.

Design elements are a high priority in catering to boaters' needs. The rear sun pad mimics a spoiler and converts into a sun deck, while conveniently providing hidden engine compartment storage accessible from two doors in the sun pad.

The styling of the Speedster 200 is available in viper red or mazalan blue with dynamic visual graphics and directional down lines that suggest movement, even at standstill. The full instrumentation gauges are displayed in a performance helm.

Tradition of Innovation
In February 1994, Bombardier Recreational Products launched the first jet drive sport boat under the Sea-Doo brand. It was a twin-engine, four passenger Speedster model that began a change in the industry. A few months later the Sportster was released, both featuring Rotax engines. Suddenly smaller jet drive boats providing all the thrills and excitement with none of the hassles of their larger cousins, were available in the market. Soon after, other boat manufacturers attempted to follow suit in the runabout market.

But Bombardier had an advantage in that it pioneered the personal-size boats that are now known as personal watercraft. Today's popular Sea-Doo watercraft are really second generation. The first Sea-Doo craft were radical departures from the technological perspective and from what sports enthusiasts of the day were accustomed to. A quarter century later, they're right "on time" for today's active lifestyle.

Bombardier Recreational Products designs, develops, builds, distributes and markets utility vehicles, RotaxTM engines and karts, Ski-Doo® and Lynx® snowmobiles, BombardierTM ATVs, Sea-Doo® watercraft and sport boats, Johnson® and Evinrude® outboard engines, as well as Evinrude direct injection and Evinrude E TECTM technologies.
