Bombardier Recreational Products continues to add to the overflowing collection of rewards and accolades for Sea-Doo® watercraft. Ehlert Publishing Group, publisher of Watercraft World magazine has recently named the RXTM DI model "Watercraft of the Year" for 2000. This award comes only months after Watercraft World named the Sea-Doo watercraft XPTM model "Watercraft of the Century". Sea-Doo watercraft is the only marine product to have received an award for Design of the Decade from the Industrial Designers Society of America and Business Week magazine (November 1999).
Ehlert Publishing Group spoke highly of the award winning RX DI watercraft. "The all-new Sea-Doo RX DI is much more than Watercraft World's "Watercraft of the Year" for 2000 (April issue). It is the future of personal watercraft (PWC) and will be the benchmark for the new millennium. With several key innovative features born from brilliant and environmentally sensitive engineering, it is no understatement to call the RX DI the most important craft in the award's history. The RX DI's innovations and impact on the industry both now and in the future made the difference. Tomorrow's PWC will be cleaner and quieter than previously imagined. With the Sea-Doo RX DI, tomorrow starts today".
The RX DI, equipped with Orbital1 Direct Fuel Injection, overwhelmed the Watercraft World test riders at the magazine's annual Dream Demo2, a week long evaluation of every production model in the watercraft industry. The RX DI watercraft was singled out as having the best visual attractiveness, ergonomic design, and most precise handling offered in the industry and also rated as the most Fun watercraft of the New Year.
Leading the way into cleaner technology with the Sea-Doo watercraft GTX+ RFI (Rotax® Fuel Injection engines) model in 1998, Bombardier Recreational Products continues to advance watercraft technology by teaming with Orbital Direct injection systems to produce the cleanest running Sea-Doo watercraft ever. These new technologies offer the most efficient fuel consumption in the watercraft industry with a reduction in emissions of up to 75%3 and fuel economy of up to 30% during a typical day of use4, as well as choke free starting and smooth yet powerful acceleration.
The Sea-Doo Learning KeyTM, a special lanyard that electronically limits the motor to less than 5000 rpm and a speed under 35 mph, was applauded for leading the way in providing a craft suitable for first time and less experienced users while possessing all the attributes and abilities of a world class high performance watercraft. The Sea-Doo Learning Key also attracted the attention of Jim Hall, chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board. Chairman Hall commended Bombardier during a press conference at the Miami Boat Show on February 15 for leading the way in the promotion of safe boating and the implementation of the speed restricting device.
With the "Watercraft of the Year" and the "Watercraft of the Century", Sea-Doo Watercraft offer the epitome of high performance with the RX DI watercraft and the
XP model.
