Bombardier Launches its Third All-Terrain Vehicle: The Traxter XT Model

Lake Cogan, Florida - 2000-02-11

Bombardier Recreational Products today unveiled its latest ATV model, the Traxter XTTM, at its Research & Development Center in Lake Cogan, Florida. Combining functional design with a sporty look, the Traxter XT is the newest addition to the Bombardier ATV family, one that began with the TraxterTM. The Vice President of Marketing and Communications ATV, Dominique Godbout, remarked: "In fact, the Traxter XT has inherited the innovative characteristics of the original Traxter along with some very exciting additions."

The Traxter XT has all the features of a real winner. Its eye-catching yellow colour combined with four over-sized polished wheels give it a look that, from any angle, is nothing short of remarkable. It also boasts a host of sought-after features like hand protectors, a powerful winch and solid load supports. Its front and back shock absorbers are reinforced to handle some of the most challenging terrain.

The Traxter XT is intended for the most demanding ATV enthusiasts. Appearance, handling, power, engine reliability, an exciting riding experience: the Traxter XT has what it takes to impress even the toughest critics.

According to Dominique Godbout, "Bombardier believes in the tremendous potential of the ATV market and will continue to invest in this product line. We want to satisfy the needs of ATV users and give them the best ATVs on the market". Mr. Godbout reminded that when Bombardier Recreational Products unveiled its first ATV in February 1998, it was entering a rapidly growing market. In 1999, sales soared to almost 600,000 units, an increase of about 25% compared to the previous year. "Our goal is clear: in the next few years we want to be among the industry leaders," said Mr. Godbout.

This goal was clearly expressed last year when Bombardier Recreational Products launched the DS 650*, its sport ATV model equipped with a 4-stroke Rotax® engine. Also boasting suspension and a wheelbase unique in its class, this ATV was designed for the most demanding sports rider.

The release of the Traxter XT this year has made the Bombardier ATV family a powerful trio.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Godbout was intent on reminding that driving an ATV is all the more enjoyable, when you make safety a priority. Bombardier Recreational Products invites all ATV enthusiasts to drive responsibly and to obey all laws and regulations. Show consideration for others and respect their rights. ATV users should keep a safe distance from other vehicles and always wear the appropriate clothing and safety equipment. Bombardier Recreational Products reminds you that alcohol and ATVs don't mix. Drivers of ATVs with more than 90-cc displacement must be 16 or over. Bombardier ATVs are designed to carry only one person at once: under no circumstances can passengers be taken on.

Bombardier Recreational Products designs, develops, builds, distributes and markets Ski-Doo® and Lynx® snowmobiles, snowgrooming equipment and multi-purpose tracked vehicles, Sea-Doo® watercraft and sport boats, Bombardier all-terrain vehicles and Bombardier NVTM neighborhood vehicles. Snowmobiles, ATV, watercraft and some sport boats are powered by Rotax® engines that are designed and built by Bombardier-Rotax GmbH which also builds motors for motorcycles and scooters.
