Valcourt - 1999-08-05
Bombardier Recreational Products announced today a $13 million investment program in its Valcourt facilities for the production of ATVs (all terrain vehicles). The program will begin this year and continue until 2003.
This investment will enable the production of the TraxterTM ATV chassis. New manufacturing units for welding, sheet metal working and painting will be integrated into current activities. These new operations will help stabilize manpower levels by creating about 200 jobs by the end of the program. This will also improve the group's profitability by reducing the cost production of all terrain vehicles. The production of these new parts will begin in the spring of 2000.
This decision is in keeping with senior management's ongoing commitment to develop Valcourt operations. "We are very pleased to announce this investment in Valcourt. We recognize the skills and expertise of our employees, who have always been one of Bombardier's strengths, and we believe that it is important to rely on their know-how," stated José Boisjoli, President of Snowmobiles and Personal Watercraft.
"With these new investments, we continue to encourage component development and manufacturing; in this way, we will continue to offer high quality and reliable products and retain control over our key technologies and value-added operations," added Mr. Boisjoli.
