Valcourt, Québec - 1999-11-19
Bombardier Recreational Products invited media representatives to attend field trials and demonstrations of its newest ATV (all-terrain vehicle), the DS 650*, in Valcourt today. This was also an opportunity for guests to tour the Valcourt facilities with Mr. Alain Brunelle, Vice President and General Manager ATV. Mr. Brunelle pointed out that "the production of the DS 650 ATV provides jobs for almost 85 people in Valcourt."
The DS 650 ATV, offering outstanding performance and easy handling, is a unique sport vehicle designed with the innovative excellence consumers have come to expect from Bombardier Recreational Products. The ATV and its 4-stroke engine are for the ultimate duners and all experienced sport riders. They will appreciate the torque, the power and the exhilarating riding experience that only the DS 650 ATV can deliver.
The DS 650 prototype was very well received by sports and outdoor enthusiasts when it was presented last June. Furthermore, the specialized press was equally impressed, especially in the United States where the DS 650 ATV was earlier demonstrated to the American media. Mr. Brunelle reminded those in attendance that when Bombardier Recreational Products introduced its first ATV, the Traxter, in February of 1998, it attracted a lot of attention as the industry has seen exceptional growth. Sales of ATVs in North America amounted to 470,000 units in 1998, an increase of 17.5% compared to 1997. "We have every intention of becoming one of the leaders of this industry," said Mr. Brunelle.
In conclusion, Mr. Brunelle was eager to remind all those present that "driving an ATV with a responsible attitude that puts safety first makes the experience much more enjoyable. Bombardier Recreational Products invites all ATV users to always use common sense and to respect local laws and regulations, and the rights of others."
Bombardier Recreational Products encourages ATV riders to keep a safe distance from other vehicles at all times, to always wear the appropriate clothing and safety equipment and to remember that drinking and driving ATVs don't mix. Riders of ATVs with engines of more than 90 cc must be at least 16 years of age. Bombardier ATVs are designed to carry one person at a time. Passengers must never be taken on, no matter what the circumstances.
